As wool is denser than down or down alternative fibers the insert will feel heavier which for many is beneficial for sleep comfort.

I know people love to use superlatives when describing certain items and I've often wondered if those were really warranted, or part of some campaign. I can assure you that this is not a campaign for an excellent rating despite some flaws. There are no flaws that I have seen with this duvet insert. It's wool and not feathers nor some polyester batting that gets moved around and requires much fluffing in order to redistribute the materials. The wool stays put where it's supposed to be. I can't think of how much money I have spent over the years trying to find a suitable stuffing. Feathers were difficult for me, and I never liked how warm the other materials could be, all weather claims to the contrary. This is a beautiful duvet, with nice weight to it, and if you've needed a weighted blanket to help you sleep better, get rid of it and use this! My husband is not the best sleeper and in the past a weighted blanket helped him, but I hated it. This duvet has enough heft to it that it helps us both! The duvet cover is also beautiful and lives up to American Blossom Linen's high standards as well. Consider this an investment in many years of good sleep.
